The Plan

So I guess I never went into what my plan was. I am taking a 1967 deVille Convertible that was Marina Blue with White Leather interior and a white top, and making it a deeper Atlantis Blue Firemist from the same year. Although I have been debating between that and the Spectre Blue Firemist from 1968, it's just a litle brighter and might just be a little nicer looking at night.

I have stripped most of the paint off the car, the paint that came on it was severly cracked from being stored in the AZ sun for quite some time, and was starting to rust only a few weeks after it's arrival here in Northern California.

I've had the car for quite some time now, but due partially to a medical situation that ate up a large chunk of my life last year, and general laziness on my part, I have done very little to it. It would probably be easier if I had a garage of my own and had the car closer than 50 miles away.

Sad Sad Day

So today I listed both my 93 Eldorado AND my 84 944 for sale on Craig's list. I already have one bite on the cadi, though it is severley underbid. I am sad but I think I need to focus on less projects and purging some of my stuff will help. I just have to learn to let go of the potential in the things I have. I was also very sad to learn that My SLR (film) is only worth about $180 even with all the extras. I have nothing that is worth anything. I have to stop spending money on anything but this Cadillac Restoration. but that will have to start in Jan. since It's christmas now and I must buy gifts.

rrrrrr...

So the part I ordered didn't get there in time for the weekend, so I couldn't see if it was the ignition switch that is the issue. So, I decided I would take the fender off and see if My sister could bring it to my brother to wled (since she has a car large enough to hold a cadillac fender). Except I was not able to get the fender off. It was raining off and on all weekend, so I spent alot of time covering and uncovering to car, and I forgot to bring the manual down with me, so I had to guess as to which bolts to remove. The most frustrating thing was trying to remove a crome trim piece from the grill so I could remove the grill, so I could get to the bolt I believe are keeping me from taking the fender off. rrrrrrrrrrr...when am I ever going to make some progress on this car?

Ordered a part

I ordered a new ignition coil for the cadillac on Monday. I'm hoping it get to the house today, so I can put it in and see if that's the problem. I saw some other people having cronic problems with the ignition coil on the 60's cads, and with the symptoms in my car, it made sense.

If I can't get that done this weekend, I'm going to at least take off the passenger fender so it can be brought up to Sacramento, where my brother will weld the rust hole up.

I'm also going to try to take off the remaining trim, I may need to take the back seat out and put it in the playhouse for storage.

even more behind now

I do not live where the car is stored, but I went and spent my weekend sitting just 100 feet away from my car and I didn't go near it, well, I guess I went near it. I tried to start it with the new battery cable. It didn't work, so I gave up.

I guess I should register the car, I found out it was over a year late when I looked at the registartion stickers I had. I don't know how that happened to the time.

Behind already

So I'm already behind in getting this project done. I made a plan, and a calendar, and have goal markers, but I am already behind on them all because of all the unplanned problems. I can't even get the car started at the moment, It seems to be a bad battery cable, so I bought a new one, I'll try to start it today. If it starts, I was planning on doing a compression test to make sure I don't need to rebuild the engine.

Cadillacrazy

I'm trying this out we'll see how it goes. I'm restoring a cadillac. a 1967 Cadillac deVille Convertible. My goal is to restore the car by June 2006 in time for the Cadillac LaSalle Club Grand National in Los Angeles.
